Meet the 2026 Editors – Jaime and Lila

Hi everyone,

It’s Jaime Minogue and Lila McRae-Palmer here, and we are excited to introduce ourselves to you all as the 2026 Editors for Purely Dicta Magazine!

A little bit about us…

Lila is in her 2nd year of the JD, after completing a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Criminology and French Studies) in 2024. After growing up on the Surfcoast, she moved to Melbourne and now does competitive cheerleading and enjoys pilates, running + hiking, and reading her old chemistry and maths textbooks! Lila has experience writing for Farrago Magazine and Purely Dicta, and is excited to see Purely Dicta grow in 2026.

Jaime is entering into her third and final year of the JD, with a background in History and English. She’s big on reading and works in a bookstore, which entails an admiration for storytelling and listening to people ’s stories from all walks of life. Jaime has written for Purely Dicta and Cheek Media, on topics ranging from popular culture to politics, and is thrilled to be on the PD team for 2026.

Our plans for Purely Dicta for 2026

Over the next year, we are looking forward to hearing all of your pitch submissions, and building the Purely Dicta Magazine community.

We would love to hear from you!

Purely Dicta Magazine publishes pitches that are punchy, fresh, and highly-readable, aiming for a word count within 1,000 words.

Common submission types include:

  • interviews with students, professors, tutors or other faculty;
  • explainers on an Melbourne Law School Club (MLS) or Society which MLS students might be interested in;
  • pop culture and politics pieces; and
  • dialogue on cases.

We are changing the way we publish submissions this year, which we will detail to you in the coming weeks as we get closer to the start of Semester 1.

Additionally, we are moving away from the Community and Spotlight sectioning of the magazine.

We are open to publishing all kinds of stories, so feel free to pitch anything that sparks your interest—whether it’s personal, professional, or anything in between!

If you are interested in having your article published by Purely Dicta Magazine, complete this form to let us know about your piece.

That’s all for now, and you’ll hear from us again soon!

In the mean time, do not hesitate to email us at jaime.minogue@mulss.com or lila.mcrae-palmer@mulss.com if you have any questions.
